Winter can be tough on your home's plumbing. The good news? Spring is the perfect time to give everything a once-over. Here's our easy-to-follow checklist for you to use in your home:
Check Your Pipes for Winter Damage.
The cold can cause tiny cracks that aren't always obvious straight away. Check any exposed pipework under sinks, in cupboards and in the loft, and look out for any damp patches or signs of moisture. Don't forget outdoor taps too, turn them on and check for a normal, steady flow.
Inspect Your Radiators.
If your radiators had cold spots over winter, they may need bleeding. It's one of the simplest maintenance jobs you can do and can make a real difference to your heating efficiency. Remember to also check the valves at the bottom of each radiator for any signs of rust or dripping water.
Service Your Boiler.
Spring is a great time to book your annual boiler service, the demand is lower and you'll have plenty of time to sort any issues before next winter.
Check Your Taps and Water Pressure.
A dripping tap can waste more water than you'd think; spring is the perfect time to get those small jobs sorted. Run your taps and shower, and take note of the water pressure. If anything seems low, it could be worth a closer look.
Clear Your Drains.
Winter debris can cause slow-draining sinks and blocked gutters. A quick check and clear now can save you from a much bigger problem further down the line.
When to Call a Professional.
